Garozzo got it right

Here's a neat opening lead problem I had playing with Jeff a few weeks ago against Izzy and Linda.
KJ42 / JT6 / 9732 / 95
Two passes to Linda on my right who opened 1 Heart. I passed and Izzy bid 1NT (alerted, presumably semi-forcing.) Jeff whipped and Linda bumped to 2NT. I passed and Izzy's 4 Heart bid ended the auction.
What do you lead?
I led a Spade (Jeff's double implied something in that suit) and dummy tracked.
53 / 953 / A85 / JT764
Jeff won the Ace and switched to a trump, but it was too late. Linda won and played the Spade Queen which I won to play a 2nd trump and now Linda ruffed her last Spade in Dummy, finessed a Diamond to her hand, drew the last trump and had 10 tricks. -420 was lose 7 IMPs and change.

At the time I thought that only a trump lead beats the hand and I checked the other results to see if anyone had found the 'killing' lead. Only one person led a trump on the hand, Benito Garozzo! And anyway, he did it from the other side. So I didn't feel to bad about not finding it.

Then when I took a look at the hand afterward, Deep Finesse rudely informed me that ONLY a Spade lead lets the hand make. As I looked a little deeper, I noticed that on any other lead the defense can engineer an uppercut in Clubs if Declarer tries to ruff a Spade in dummy. The Spade lead strips the critical entry to the East hand that is necessary for that defense to succeed. So much for a good story.
