The Butler Did It

Here's a tweaked version of Chris Pedersen's Butler spreadsheet.  I hope to add a Seniors category in the next day or two. (You need Microsoft Excel to open the file.)

Basically what it shows is that Jeff/JZ have brought back the best results of the 3 Canadian pairs so far.  On average, they're losing about 0.05 IMPs per board (compared with Wally/Piotr at -0.40 IMPs per board and Nic/Kamel at -0.73 IMPs per board.)  They've also been the better Canadian pair in 6 of their 8 sets (compared with 4/9 for Wally/Piotr and 2/7 for Nic/Kamel.)

As I mentioned yesterday, it also shows that Francine/Julie have brought back the best results of the 3 Canadian pairs in the Venice Cup.  That hasn't changed since yesterday as Canada lost the match that Francine/Julie were out and won the other two.

Yesterday (or I guess technically, earlier today) Nader anchored Wally/Piotr, with mixed results (they were awful against India (as were Jeff/JZ,) and average plus in the other 2 matches (going for -2300 into 460 isn't the way to win these events.)  If he's going to anchor anyone today, it should be Jeff and JZ.

Izzy/Sylvia finally had a decent set in match 12, but Francine/Julie are playing way more consistently than the other 2 pairs and Canada's captain needs to step up and anchor the best pair.
