Had a fun set with my old buddy Wayne Perrin tonight.  Wayne won the inaugural Red Ribbon Pairs in 1986 (with Martin Newland) and was my regular partner for a while back in the day.  I'll blog a hand or two from our set tomorrow.

Canada plays Egypt tomorrow at 2PM CDT on BBO.  Be sure to tune in.

My latest outrage is over all the fraud being perpetrated by the contractors (like KBR, a subsidiary of Cheney's old stomping ground, Halliburton) over in Iraq.  Good stories on that here and here.

I especially like this quote from the first story:

'"What has happened in Iraq is just disgraceful," says Jeffrey H. Smith, a former Central Intelligence Agency general counsel during the Clinton Administration who now represents military contractors in private law practice.'

If Jeffrey Smith says it, it must be true.

Somewhat bummed that summer is over.  The weather's nice now, though, so I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Playing pétanque on Sunday.  Any other pétanque players out there?

My college football teams started poorly.  Tennessee lost to Cal.  Texas only won by 8 against Arkansas State (and dropped in the polls.)  Only Oregon met expectations with a sound thumping of Houston.

That'll do for now.  See you next Friday.
