Ain't That a Kick in the Back?

Had a fun 20 boards with Peter tonight. Here are my most favorite and least favorite boards:
T / AQJ96 / KT4 / A532
First, favorable.
You open 1 Heart. Pard bids 1 Spade. You bid 2 Clubs. Pard bids 2 Diamonds (4SF.) You bid 2NT. Pard now bids 4 Clubs.
Qu'est-ce que c'est que ca?
Is this Gerber? Why didn't pard set trumps at the 3 level? Is this some slam invite in Clubs (afraid for some reason that I would pass 3 Clubs)?
Unfortunately, this was Speedball (I LOATHE speedball, btw) and I had to do something. I just couldn't bring myself to bid 4 Spades with a stiff and waffled with 4 Hearts.
Peter bid 6NT and LHO led the 3 of Spades
K976 / K54 / A7 / KQJ8
T / AQJ96 / KT4 / A532
Did I mention this was an IMP Pairs tournament? Ugh. Peter later mentioned that he assumed we were playing kickback (he intended 4 Clubs as keycard (we'd agreed 1430) for Clubs.) Even if I have 3 bullets, it seems like 6 Clubs is where we want to be. Oh well. Surprisingly, LHO had not underled his Ace of Spades and I finished 2 in the glue.

4th all white
Pard opens 1 Diamond, 3 Hearts on your Right.
I'd had enough keycard disasters for one evening. Regular readers of my blog might guess that I chose to bid ...
7 Diamonds.
The hands fit well.
7 / AJ / AK42 / AKJ954
AK95 / - / QJ853 / 8762
+1440 was worth 10.48 IMPs (just enough to offset the 10.36 IMPs we lost on the 1st board.)
