Here's my worst hand of the day that I feel like I earned.

All white you pick up:

- / KQ854 / KJT96 / T92

And RHO opens 3 Spades.

Argh.

You have a huge hand on offense IF you have a fit.

Give pard a hand like:

Jxxx / Axxx / Qxx / xx

and 4 Hearts is laydown.

But still, 9 only high really isn't enough to come in at the 3-level (especially the top end of the 3-level.)  If pard passes, that won't be good.

I doubled.  LHO raised to 4 Spades.  NOW pard doubled.

In for a penny, in for a pound.  I think I have to sit here, no?

I chose to lead the King of Hearts.

JT7 / AJT7 / 5 / AKJ64

Well, at least it looks like I might have a fighting chance in the post-mortem.  What on earth could partner be doubling on?

Declarer won the Ace, played a Diamond to the Ace, ruffed a Diamond, played the AK of Clubs, pitching a Heart on the 2nd Club, ruffed a Club, ruffed a Diamond, and pitched a Heart on the 4th round of Clubs.

With

J / JT7 / - / 6

opposite

Q9843 / - / - / -

remaining, he was able to take 3 of the last 5 tricks.

I needed to pass that hand.  Too much downside.  Not enough upside.

-590 was 9.40 IMPs away (though to be fair, the double cost less than 3 IMPs.)

Pard had his double

AK65 / 3 / 8432 / Q753

Declarer played the hand well

JT7 / AJT7 / 5 / AKJ64

Q98432 / 962 / AQ7 / 8
