Okay, maybe I've been spending too much time with the Baker and Candlestick maker, but I can bid!

Continuing the match with Andy (after a flattish 3NT,) I pick up at favorable in 1st:

AK9863 / 94 / KJ73 / T

I open 1 Spade and it goes 4 Clubs on my left.  There's about 10-15 seconds between the 4 Club bid and Andy's pass, but he had 10 seconds by right and anyway, any pauses online could be caused by pretty much anything, so I didn't feel barred.  Righty passed and I'm up.

Over 5 Clubs, I think pass is clear.  Over 3 Clubs, I think taking some action is clear.  Over 4 Clubs, I felt like flipping a coin.  I eventually passed.

Andy led the 7 of Spades and dummy tracked:

J2 / AKJT83 / Q9854 / -

I hoped against hope that Andy's lead was top of a doubleton, but Declarer ruffed the 2nd spade and was soon claiming 9 tricks.  +100 wasn't much consolation for missing game.

Andy held:

QT74 / 72 / AT6 / K972

AK9863 / 94 / KJ73 / T

Declarer held:

5 / Q65 / 2 / AQJ86543

We lost 8 IMPs on the board when our teammate chose to bid 3 Clubs and our opponents then had no trouble reaching the spade game.  -450
