Top 10 at the End of Day 2

Bowman 205
Molson 195
Thurston 191
Chevalier 171
Bart 170
L'Ecuyer 168
Bertrand 168
Todd 166
Jotcham 166
Ballantyne 161

The Ladies are underway as well.  Izzy's squad is leading the 14-team field at the end of Day 1.
Jeff's squad is missing in action.  The most devastating match was the final match against previously winless Tolson.  A blitz would have put the boys right back into the mix, but they lost the match 20-10.  Unlucky.

Jeff sent me an interesting report on Day 1.  I've asked his permission to post it here.  It turns out he and David were out when their team lost the first match and when their team narrowly won their last match of Day 1, so he's pleased with how things are going but wants more playing time.

The CBF is doing a rather poor job of updating the scores.  A 5 minute job like that should be done promptly and accurately.  There's about an hour delay between the end of matches and when the results are posted and the last update had 5 separate overall score errors.  Not impressed.

Here are the top 10 after the 2nd match of day 2.  I will update this post later with final day 2 results.

Molson 151
Bowman 141
Todd 132
Thurston 131
Ballantyne 122
Bart 120
Bertrand 118
Frukacz 116
L'Ecuyer 116
Dowdall 114

Molson is the team to beat, with 4 multi-CNTC winners on it, including George Mittelman, who has won more CNTCs (8) than anybody else (Boris Baran, Allan Graves, and the late Mark Molson all have won 7.)

Bowman is also solid and I expect them to make it through to the quarters.  They have multiple CNTC winners Kamel Fergani (3) and David Lindop (Audrey Grant's husband.)

Todd is a bit of a surprise to me.  No previous CNTC winners.  I expect them to drop.

Thurston has 2-time winner Nick Gartaganis.  Everyone else on the squad has won it once.  I expect them to stick around.

Ballantyne has previous winners Jim McAvoy and Duncan Smith (they won in 1992.)

Bart is an unfamiliar team to me.  A 4-bagger.  I don't expect them to maintain their position.

Bertrand has no previous winners on it either, but with Kenny Gee and Barry Harper (who have combined for 8 of the 9 last Richmond trophies) it would be foolish to write them off.

Frukacz is Jeff's team.  Nuff said.

L'Ecuyer is probably the second toughest team in the field after Molson.  All but Marcinski (Nick's partner) have multiple CNTC wins.  Marcinski has one previous win.  They stumbled out of the gate yesterday, but have quickly risen back into contention today.

Dowdall is another surprise.  No previous CNTC winners.  I don't expect them to stick around.  They have a guy named Ron Smith, but I don't think he's either of the American Ron Smiths.

Trivia question: Among Canadians who haven't won the Richmond trophy, who has the most masterpoints?

Trivia answer: Boris Baran
