Happy Weekiversary!

While this is first and foremost a bridge blog, I'll be posting once a week about other stuff. This is one of those posts.
If you missed the Bill Moyers special on PBS called
Buying the War, about the castration of the American mainstream media by the neocon wing of the Republican party, you should watch it online. (I've always been skeptical of the media, particularly since I took a philosophy class as a first semester freshman at the University of Guelph (I would transfer to Tennessee the following semester) from
John McMurtry, who really opened my eyes.) He also has a
new interview with Jon Stewart on tonight.
I watched the Democratic debate last night. I'd never heard of (or more likely, forgotten) former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel, but he delivered the best line of the night (paraphrasing): 'When you first come to the Senate, you pinch yourself and wonder how on earth you got elected. After 6 months in the Senate, you wonder how on earth the other 99 Senators did.' Speaking of which, Go Sens! Back to the debate: I'm leaning towards Edwards right now, but he looked downright uncomfortable when not speaking. I thought Brian Williams did a very poor job, framing questions using Republican talking points and allocating time unevenly (in the early going, everyone should get an equal shot to impress.)
Recent rentals: Entourage (HBO series) is excellent, at least for the first couple of seasons. Last King of Scotland was disappointing (the Idi Amin character was a caricature; the other main character, a young white doctor, seemed to have an unnatural obsession with banging married chicks. I didn't care about either one of them.)
Austin weather has sucked all month. April's usually one of the best months of the year but I've only been down to the pool 5 or 6 times. (Nothing like taking a nap in the late afternoon sun.)
I learned an interesting fact this week: Did you know that donkeys are the only animal that can reproduce by ass fucking?
Back to the cards ...
