I've never had luck with grand slams.  '6 is enough, boys!' was virtually my motto.  Until this past year.  Recently they've been coming up pretty frequently and I'm batting close to 1000.  (I don't count the 'I Blame You' hand because a psych was involved.)  Another pretty mundane one came up today playing with Isabelle Smith (Jeff's charming wife, and a fine bridge player.)

She held:

AKQ82 / 94 / 5 / AKJ98

I held

7 / AQT8 / AKQJ7 / Q73

We had a straightforward auction:

1 Spade - 2 Diamonds - 3 Clubs - 3 Hearts - 4 Clubs - 4NT - 5 Diamonds (0 or 3) - 7 Clubs

We missed the best spot, 7NT.  But it was still worth 9 IMPs (not much field protection on BBO.)

Now if only I could get my spec honor doubleton leads in unbid suits (with no other attractive lead) to work.
